Things to Do: Exercise and Sports
Sports and Athletic Opportunities
All staff members are encouraged to take advantage of the many athletic and recreational opportunities on campus, some of which are listed below. The main athletic facilities are in or near Barton Hall, Teagle Hall, and Helen Newman Hall. Cornell community members can enjoy basketball, volleyball, badminton, squash, racquetball, tennis, swimming, exercise machines, weight lifting, bowling, golf, canoeing, horseback riding, ice skating, and more. Athletic Memberships
Provides towel, basket, locker, lock, privilege card, access to the pool; Bartels Hall; 255-2540.
Badminton
Cornell Badminton Club is free and open to all members of the Cornell community. Helen Newman Hall, 255-4261.
Biking
Finger Lakes Cycling Club offers road and mountain-biking trips; David Ruppert, 273-7064, Web: www.flcycling.org.
Bowling
Helen Newman Hall; 255-4200.
Cornell Outing Club
A group of people who cooperate to take trips into the natural world, including kayaking, day hiking, caving, backpacking, biking, climbing, and cross-country skiing; 256-9482.
Equestrian Sports
Riding classes through physical education classes and private lessons; horse boarding; Oxley Equestrian Center, on Pine Tree Road; 272-0152.
Golf
Robert Trent Jones Golf Course offers memberships and daily rates to faculty, staff, and retirees; 254-6531.
High Noon Athletic Club
Informal social group promotes health and fitness through exercise, including running, biking, and swimming. All levels welcome. Voluntary dues; meets outside Teagle Hall; John Saylor, 255-4134.
Hockey
Cornell faculty hockey team competes on and off campus and participates in an annual hockey tournament; Dave Delchamps, e-mail: dfd1@cornell.edu.
Intramural Sports
Staff and faculty can participate in a wide variety of sports. Team and individual fees. For information call 255-2315 or go to cornellbigred.com.
Masters Swim Club

Outdoor Education
Outdoor skills seminars and courses; boat, Nordic ski and camping gear rentals and sales; team-building programs; 255-6415.
Polo

Rock Climbing

Rugby
The Johnson Graduate School of Management Rugby Club is open to male graduate students, staff, and alumni. The Ithaca Iguanodons (women’s rugby team) is open to female graduates, staff, and alumni. Scheduled games in fall and spring with informal games in summer; rugby@cornell.edu.
Running
Finger Lakes Runners Club offers road running, track running, trail- and cross-country running; membership fee; John Beach, 272-2308.
Skating

Cornell Fitness Center Membership (fee)
CFC supports the mission of Recreational Services of promoting holistic and healthy lives for students and staff within the demanding environment of the University through many on-site fitness centers and unlimited participation in our extensive group exercise program. Personal training and nutrition counseling are available. Spouses and same-sex partners are eligible to join the Cornell Fitness Center. Employees have access to both CFC or Cornell Wellness. Fitness Class Membership (fee)
