Jobs and Pay
Staff Jobs
The Job Structure includes approximately 500 University Job Titles from 14 Job Families in nine Pay Bands.
Staff positions are classified within functional job families. Each job family has job title classifications placed into bands according to responsibilities, required qualifications, and competitive market pay.
Staff Pay
Cornell pays competitively in relation to the pay for comparable work at comparable employers within demonstrated labor markets. Market competitive pay varies by job family and job classification throughout the 9 pay bands. Individual pay is based on responsibilities, position-related qualifications, experience and performance in concert with college/unit guidelines. Applicants are advised to review current job postings for further information. Supervisors should confer with their college/unit HR Office for specific pay data on any job classification.
Staff have many opportunities for performance-based pay advancement including: Merit Salary Improvement Programs, Position Enhancement, Promotions and Variable Pay.
The links below provide an overview of the work and general recruiting ranges for each job family. General recruiting ranges indicate the Cornell band minimums, which are often lower than the job classification's recommended competitive starting pay and are often exceeded for exceptional candidates.
