Purpose
As part of Cornell's commitment to staff development, the University
offers a variety of programs and services designed to help staff
achieve professional and personal growth and greater job satisfaction.
Educational Opportunities There are four separate educational assistance programs available for staff which can be useful in career development:
- Workshops and Seminars - offered through Organizational Development Services;
- Extramural Program - Cornell academic courses;
- Employee Degree Program - Cornell degree programs for staff, and
- Tuition Aid Program - tuition aid for staff enrolled in approved courses and programs at other educational institutions.
These programs are described in detail on the following pages (Policies 6.10.2 Training Programs, 6.10.3 Staff Taking Cornell Courses (Extramural), 6.10.4 Employee Degree Program , and 6.10.5 Tuition Aid Program respectively).
Assistance
Employees can find assistance in selecting appropriate courses of interest
through the college or department in which their area of interest lies;
in Organizational Development Services' Career Development Services; and
in Continuing
Education and Summer Sessions.
Employees can find additional support through the Employee Education Committee (c/o Office of the Assembly).
Organizational Development Services' Career Development Services offers
consultation services to help supervisors and staff find suitable arrangements
to allow participation in coursework.
