The activities for Camp Explorations will be thematically organized by week to meet a variety of interests. Registration begins on March 10.
June 30 - July 3: Let's Play
School's out! Let's celebrate with a range of sports. Build confidence and sportsmanship while developing coordination and sports skills. Activities include aerobics, soccer, dance, kickball, frisbee throwing, capture the flag, bowling and much more. Come enjoy a week of teamwork, fun and play and learn the origins of some major sports.
July 7 - 11: Sustaining Our Community!
Big Red goes green! This week we will learn about the importance of protecting our environment and reducing our carbon footprint. We will be learning about composting and conserving energy, and have a contest to see how green we can be!
July 14 - 18: Around the World!
This week we will be appreciating all the different countries and cultures that make each of us unique! In addition we will share our own cultures and traditions. We will also be creating our own personal flags.
July 21 - 25: Who's Who Week
This week we are exploring the community we live in and recognizing all the people, places, and scientific discoveries that make our community work! We will be creating our own community, which includes building the buildings, exploring science and technology to be more efficient, and running our community government.
July 28 - August 1: In the Garden!
Can you dig? Campers will be busy getting down and dirty working in the dirt. Our campers will learn about planting a garden, and looking at bugs and animals that live there.
August 4 - 8: Legal Eagles!
This week is all about courtrooms and trials. We will be encouraging each child to learn about the court system and participate in their own trial!
August 11 - 15: Art Smart!
Geared for the inner artist inside of us all, this week is sure to inspire even the least artistic of the bunch! We will be highlighting different artists and their work, as well as providing many new art mediums for each child to explore. Campers will participate in a scavenger hunt at Johnson Museum!
