- Cornell University Pet Insurance - Cornell University's auto and home insurance vendor, Marsh@WorkSolutions, offers pet insurance through the Veterinary Pet Insurance Company (VPI). This insurance covers dogs, cats, birds and exotic pets and works through the reimbursement of expenses. There is no network and you can take your pet to the veterinarian of your choice. You pay your vet's bill in full and have your vet provide you with a diagnosis, treatment date(s) and itemized invoice(s) for processing. You send these to VPI insurance for your reimbursement. A flat rate $50 deductible is applied for each different accident or illness. You will be reimbursed 90 percent of the amount, after the $50 deductible that VPI allows for that type of accident or illness.
